Elden Ring Soft Caps All Stats & Attributes Patch 1.08 (2023)
Knowing soft caps for all stats in Elden Ring is essential if you want to optimize your build as much as possible. Elden Ring is a rather intricate RPG, having eight main stats (or attributes) which handle all your other stats. These stats have several “soft caps”. In contrast to hard caps, which are the maximum number you can reach on a stat, soft caps are points at which the value of increasing that stat drastically drops. In this in-depth guide, you will find all soft caps for all stats and attributes in Elden Ring, updated to correspond balance changes from the latest Elden Ring patch.
What are Soft Caps For Each Stat in Elden Ring Patch 1.08 (January 2023)
Learning skill soft caps in Elden Ring is useful as it will allow you to spend your Runes smarter and where it matters. Runes are not limitless; using them optimally will make your builds more efficient. At one point, levelling up a stat will simply have diminishing returns compared to investing that same rune in another stat. Unlike hard caps, soft caps are not clearly communicated in many games. The same goes for Elden Ring stats soft caps.
Luckily, that’s where the community jumps in! Diligent community members have figured out the numbers for stat soft caps and shared them on Reddit! Reddit user u/AshuraRC was the first one to do the math, which was later updated by u/getcheddarttv. Thanks to them, we now know all skill soft cap in Edlen Ring. It should be added that for Intelligence, the first sorcery cap is at level 60, while the second is at level 80. And for Faith, the first incantation cap is at level 60, while the second is at level 80. When it comes to Arcane, the first incantation cap is at level 30 and the second is at level 45. Very early in your exploration of Elden Ring world you will find out that you need to prepare your character for different tasks. You'll need to learn how to use Ashes of War, how to two-hand weapons, or use magic spells during the course of your adventures. Many secrets are also waiting for you, such as, a hostile NPC Sellen that doesn't let you see her shop, an invisible man in a bush, or a huge turtle with a bell that lets you duplicate some very important items.
I still don’t understand the soft caps in elden ring
So let’s say Vigors soft cap is 50 ok which means for each point more I put into Vigor won’t add more to my health correct?
So what I’m not understanding is why is there 3 soft caps for let’s say Vigor what happens if I put my points into the second or third soft cap ? Do I lose health on the second cap ? Do I lose even more on the third cap
It’s stated that more points you put in past the cap doesn’t add anything right ? Then why on some attributes is there 3 or 2 soft caps ?
Soft caps mean you gain less value for a Rune you put into a stat than you did before that cap.
Let’s take Vigor for example. Before level 40, for each Rune you invest you get 26 HP. But after level 40, you get 13 HP for each rune. You get less value, that’s a soft cap. At that point, it’s best to put your runes somewhere else for maximum efficiency.
But the way its written… the caps are based on current character level and not attribute total, it doesn’t matter where you put the point you will get less for it because you are past level 20. This level type soft cap is kinda dumb IMO. your character just advances slower the further you get into the game, no matter where you put your runes.
The “levels” are levels put into that stat, NOT your character level.
The guide should be changed to say “X [Stat]” instead of “X level” to be clearer.
