Is Gran Turismo 7 Open World?
No, unfortunately, Gran Turismo 7 is not an open-world game. GT7 will only allow players to drive at the selected circuit venues available in the game. At launch, GT7 will feature 34 different circuit locations around the world, both real-life locations and fantasy tracks. In addition, there will be a total of 97 circuit layouts within these locations. And that’s just on the launch day, with more to come as free and paid DLCs
Some players might be disappointed because GT7 is not an open-world game. But that was never to be expected from a Gran Turismo game. Gran Turismo 7 is a sim racing game, focused on real driving experience. Seeing the success of Forza Horizon 5 and its beautiful Mexico open-world environment, many players hoped to see something similar in GT7. But those are simply different types of racing games. Nonetheless, Gran Turismo 7 still features a sprawling campaign where you will be able to make your way to the top. And while it doesn’t have free roaming in the open-world environment, it does feature different locations you can visit on foot, so to speak.
From your world map screen, you will be able to access various features of GT7. And these features are not just some boring menus. Rather, they are all beautifully designed virtual locations. Aside from Missions Races and World Circuit, you will find features such as Brand Central, Café, Showcase, used cars, etc. There’s also a brand new feature called “Scapes” where you can “travel the world with your favourite car”. It is a photo mode that allows you to place your cars in over 2,500 handpicked locations and edited them as real photos. So, there’s still a lot to explore even if there is no open world in Gran Turismo 7.
