You can get a Linking Cord in two ways. The first is to trade Merit Points at the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. It sells for 1,000 Merit Points, and you get these by returning lost satchels. These are left by other players, so to do this – you will need to have an online connection when playing the game. The other way is through a specific Request, as we’ll see in the next section.

You can also get a free Linking Cord as a reward for completing the “Getting to Know Ghosts” Request. To begin this Request, speak with Ward in Jubilife Village. He will ask you to fill out the Pokedex entry on Gastly. You can find Gastly in the following locations: Coronet Highlands (Bolderoll Ravine, Sacred Plaza, and Celestica Ruins), and in the Crimson Mirelands (Golden Lowlands, Gapejaw Bog, Scarlet Bog, and Shrouded Ruins). We chose to go to the Scarlet Bog at night (here’s how you can change the time of day), where we encountered many Gastlies. Once you have filled out your Pokedex entry on this Pokemon, return to Ward. He will reward you with a free Linking Cord for helping him out.
