How to Make Steel in Icarus

The creation of steel ingots in Icarus is not something that you will be able to do right from the start of the game, as it requires that you have unlocked and built several pieces of equipment first. Specifically, you will need a Stone Pickaxe, Mortar and Pestle, and a Concrete Furnace. If you want to unlock all of these in your Tech Tree as soon as possible, we recommend you check out our guide on how to level up fast in Icarus.

Equipped with a Stone Pickaxe, you will want to go to caves to mine for Iron Ore and Coal. To create one Steel Ingot, you will need either x6 Iron Ore, or x3 Iron Ingot and x1 Coal. When you have these, take them to your Mortar and Pestle (which you can craft with x4 Silica and x12 Stone at your Crafting Station once you have upgraded it to Level 10) to craft the Steel Bloom. Finally, bring the Steel Bloom to the Concrete Furnace (crafted at the Machining Bench for x12 Iron Ingots, x8 Rope, x12 Epoxy, and x20 Concrete Mix) to create a Steel Ingot. You can now use those Steel Ingots to create more powerful tools and weapon upgrades.
