The underground area in this game is about as expansive as the above-ground part of the map, and it’s the only place where certain Pokemon spawn. How to Go Underground in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

To go to the Underground in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, or BDSP, the first thing you have to do is play through the game until you reach Eterna City. That’s the place where the second gym leader lives, by the way, and is also the place where you get the bicycle. For more info on that, check out our How to Get Bicycle – Pokemon BDSP Bike guide. More importantly for our needs, however, this is where the NPC that gives you the Explorer Kit lives.

So, once you get into Eterna City, find the house with the blue door and yellow roof to the right of the Pokemon Center. The sign outside tells you that the place is called “Underground Man’s House.” You can see where we’re going with this, right? To go to the Underground in Pokemon BDSP, aka Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, go inside the house and talk to the old man inside. He’ll give you the Explorer Kit and explain how to use it. In fact, you’ll get to use it outside of his house, if you want to.

You can dig your way down into the Underground from pretty much any place you choose in the above-ground part of the map. The first time you end up in the tunnels criss-crossing the region, take a look at the minimap in that appears in the upper left corner. You’ll see that they stretch out quite significantly. If you open the man map, you’ll see that they cover pretty much the entirety of the place. That’s a lot of area to explore, Pokemon to catch, and fossils and Evolution Stones to farm. Good luck!
