What is Async Compute?

Async Compute is a new feature added to Halo Infinite. Its purpose is to increase graphics card efficiency. It does this by interleaving tasks. However, there are reports that for some people, the feature is causing problems. This has been noticed on the AMD Radeon RX 500 series card primarily, though it is not limited to this card alone.

How to Turn Off / On Async Compute

Luckily, disabling the feature seems to solve most problems. If it does not, then the problem is unlikely to be Async Compute. In this case, you should check the official troubleshooting or check back here for any problems that may arise.

Disabling the feature is an easy task. Open up the game and go to the main screen. In the bottom right corner, you will see a cog, the standard icon for settings. If you cannot find it, then F1 will bring up the same option.

Scroll down to settings in this menu and select it. From here, you should be able to go to the video setting. This will be in the top bar of the menu screen.

Go further down and you should see Async Compute. If the box next to it has a tick, then Async is enabled. Click it so the tick vanishes, and it will no longer be working. This should solve any immediate problems. It is not yet known if the developers know about this and if a patch will be available to fix it in the near future.
