Dark Impulse - Darkest Dungeon 2
Darkest Dungeon 2 Dark Impulse is a Vague Trinket whose description says it unlocks the potential of Cultist Trinkets. That’s a fairly nebulous description, and doesn’t really tell you how to use the Dark Impulse. To make matters worse, it doesn’t seem to do anything, aside from just taking up inventory space. However, that doesn’t mean that they’re useless. Quite the opposite; they can be extremely advantageous in the right circumstances. We’ll explain how it all works in this guide.
How to Use Darkest Dungeon 2 Dark Impulse
To use the Dark Impulse Vague Trinket in Darkest Dungeon 2, you need to get another Cultist Trinket. Both Dark Impulse and other such Trinkets drop from Cultist battles (although, the Impulse also drops from Cosmic battles). So, if you’re in a run where you’re not fighting many Cultists, you can safely discard the Dark Impulse, because if you don’t get another Cultist Trinket, it’s useless. Plus, the Trinkets are not exactly the most common of loot at the best of times. That said, if you find yourself in a run where you’re battling many Cultists, definitely keep that Dark Impulse in your inventory.
Once you get your hands on a Cultist Trinket, read its description. More often than not, it will say something to the effect of “this item needs Dark Impulse to unlock its potential” or whatever. So, what you need to do then is equip both the Trinket that requires the Dark Impulse, as well as the Impulse itself. You’ll notice that the Darkest Dungeon 2 Dark Impulse makes the other trinket significantly more powerful. Use these newly-found powers responsibly, of course. In any other scenario, the Impulse is completely worthless.
So, once more for the cheap seats in the back: the Dark Impulse is a Vague Trinket that you can get as loot from Cultist or Cosmic battles. Its only use is to amplify the powers of other Cultist Trinkets, when equipped together. Other than that, it’s a hunk of junk that’s just eating up your already limited inventory space. Ditch it in runs where there aren’t many Cultists.
