4 Sockets Polearm Diablo 2 - Insight Runeword
Crafting the Insight Runeword in Diablo 2 requires you to have a 4 socket polearm and the correct four runes to slot in. That sure does sound easy on the surface, but trust us, it’s anything but. Figuring out how to get a four-socket polearm in Diablo 2 is an issue in and off itself, and even when you finally have one, you still need to know which runes you need for the Insight Runeword and how to farm them. Well, we’ll be covering all of those points in our 4 Sockets Polearm Diablo 2 – Insight Runeword guide.
How to Get 4 Socket Polearm in Diablo 2
To get a 4 socket polearm in Diablo 2 for the Insight Runeword, there are several things that you can do. If you’re playing on Normal difficulty, you can farm the secret cow level or either Act IV or later Act V areas (starting with Arreat Plateau) for a white polearm that’s somewhere between level 26 and 40. Once you have one of those, you can use Larzuk’s quest or the Horadric Cube to roll four sockets on that polearm. The latter method is random, however, and Larzuk only grants sockets once per difficulty, so make sure you really want that Insight Runeword. If, on the other hand, you start farming Act I on Nightmare difficulty, your odds of getting a polearm with four sockets off the bat raises significantly. So, again, rethink what you want to use Larzuk on.
Which Runes You Need for Insight and Insight Runeword stats
The runes you need to make the Insight Runeword from a 4 socket polearm in Diablo 2 are Ral, Tir, Tal and Sol, in that order. Hence the colloquial name for the Runeword, RalTirTalSol. The runes are fairly easy to farm (more on that below), and the Insight Runeword stats absolutely justify the grind, as you can see in the list. It is a fantastic item for magic users to have, even if you just give it to a mercenary to carry, because the Meditation Aura regenerates your mana at a really good clip. Plus, it increases your odds of finding Magical Items, gives you more mana for each kill, and more.
- Level 12-17 Meditation Aura When Equipped
- 35% Faster Cast Rate
- 200-260% Enhanced Damage
- +9 to Minimum Damage
- 180-250% Bonus to Attack Rating
- Adds 5-30 Fire Damage
- +75 Poison Damage over 5 seconds
- +1-6 to Critical Strike
- +5 to all Attributes
- +2 to Mana after each kill
- 23% better odds of finding Magic Items
Where to Farm Earliest for Each Rune
The earliest you can farm for each rune for the Insight Runeword in Diablo 2, once you have the 4 socket polearm depends on the difficulty you’re playing on. When it comes to Ral, Tir and Tal, the most efficient way to farm them is to keep fighting The Countess on Normal difficulty or above. Alternatively, you can farm The Hellforge, too, which comes way later in the game. Normal difficulty will do fine. They can also drop in Act 3.
Sol is a bit more difficult. You can still farm The Countess and The Hellforge, but you’ll have to do both on at least Nightmare difficulty. It does also have a chance to drop in Act 4. All that said, don’t forget that you can make runes with the Horadric Cube. The recipes for each rune is listed in the guide linked above.
One thing I wish the article explained is that socketing lower level items on higher difficulties results in less sockets on said items. Other than that, good info.
Got a sol rune 2 nights in a row farming cow level on normal. Took maybe 5 runs total.
How do you do unli cow runs?
Helpful article, thanks much.
