How to Get Ancient’s Pledge Runeword Diablo 2 Resurrected
There is an abundance of runewords in Diablo 2 Resurrected and you may be wondering how to get the Ancients Pledge runeword. Runewords offer various bonuses to your character, but their real value is because you get to choose which bonuses you get by choosing which runeword to apply to your socketed gear. Ancient’s Pledge is not the most powerful rune, but it is very useful because it is very cheap to make. You can also make it very early on in the normal difficulty of the game, while other runewords are available only in nightmare or hell difficulty. Making it requires the use of three runes. Read on as we discuss how to get the Ancients Pledge Runeword in Diablo 2 resurrected.
Once you have completed Rescue on Mount Arreat in Act V, you will gain the correct runes to complete the Ancients Pledge. Ancients Pledge needs the runeword combination ‘Ral Ort Tal’ in that order. The order in which you apply runes is important. Put Ral in the topmost socket, Ort in the middle, and Tal in the bottom. While it does not provide anything that outstanding, it can raise resistance. This simple method can come into its own when you are in Hell and Nightmare.
The rune has several effects, such as resistance to fire, lightning, and poison. It also has a wide range of defensive bonuses. These can range from enhanced defense to sending damage to Mana.
Ancient Pledge Effects
- 35% Fire Resist
- Lightning Resist 35%
- 35% Poison Resist
Ancient Pledge Bonuses
- Enhanced Defense +50%
- 10% Damage to Mana
- Resist poison, lightning and fire all +13% (48% total)
- Cold resist +43%
To create the runeword you will need to be at level 21 and have a 3-socket shield. You can add this to off-hand armor that has three sockets (in normal difficulty this is a shield for example). If you don’t want to wait to complete the quest in Act V you can get these runes earlier. Tal and Ral can be farmed from the Countess boss in Act I The Forbidden Tower. You have a chance of Tal or Ral dropping from the Hellforge in Act IV. These runes also have a small drop chance all throughout Act III.
Ort is a little harder. This can be gained in Act 4 from the Countess at the nightmare level and above. If you want it in normal you can transmute 3x Ral runes into one Ort rune by using the Horadric Cube. It also has a slight chance of dropping in Act IV, especially if you have high magic find.
All runes to make the Ancient Pledge can also be created by using the Horadric Cube. Check out our Diablo 2 Horadric Cube Recipes guide for details. Ancient’s Pledge runeword is not the only one you can start applying and using in normal difficulty and early on in the game. Check out our other useful guide on Diablo 2 Runewords for more info.
