How to Tame Boars in Valheim Hearth and Home Update
The matter of how to tame boars in the Valheim Hearth and Home update has been confusing both rookie and veteran players. This is because the new update has changed up the food the boars require in order to tame them. I’m not entirely sure why they felt this was necessary; maybe they thought that taming boars has been too easy so far. Whatever the case may be, we’re here to help. In this article, we’ll show you how to tame boars in the new update and how to feed them.
How to Tame Boars in Valheim Hearth and Home Update
To tame boars in the Valheim Hearth and Home update, you first need to lure them into a pen you’ve built previously. Just fence off a bit of land that’s not too far from your house (for the sake of convenience) and leave an opening. Then simply kite a boar into the pen and trap it in. Drop food on the ground inside the pen and, soon enough, the boar will be tamed. You get little hearts above its head to know how far in the process you are. If you have several tamed pigs in one pen, they might even breed and make piglets, provided the pen is large enough.
One important thing to note – keep the boars away from fire. Even if there’s a wall between the pen and the fire, they will refuse to become tame. Also, for returning players: they changed which food the boars eat, which brings me to our next point.
How to Feed Boars in Valheim Hearth & Home
To feed boars in Valheim Hearth and Home in order to tame them, you’ll have to give them cultivated carrots. Yes, it doesn’t seem that wild carrots will do the trick. Also, mushrooms and berries won’t work like they did before the update. Very, very picky little piggies they are. We have also heard that cultivated turnips and onions work, but haven’t corroborated it just yet. Still, since you should probably be growing carrots, onions and turnips anyway for your own food supply, might as well give them a shot with the boars.
