Farm Speed Buns in Bravely Default 2

Speed buns are a consumable item in Bravely Default 2. When consumed, these booster buns increase a character’s speed permanently. The speed stat is extremely important for certain play styles, so you might want to beef it up as much as possible. If that’s the case, you’ll need a reliable farming method for speed buns. Luckily, there is one – it requires some preparation, but it’s nothing too difficult. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to farm speed buns in Bravely Default 2.

How to farm speed buns?

First of all, you’ll need a thief – a good one. The thief needs to be at least level 10 for this method to be efficient, although it’s best if they’re at level 12. One such thief will suffice, but the more you have, the faster it’ll go.

At level ten, the thief gets the Magpie ability. This gives them a 25% chance of scoring a rare item when stealing, which the speed bun is. At level 12, they get the Rob Blind ability – this one gives them a chance to steal two items instead of one. Don’t forget the Shakedown special ability, too – it guarantees an item will be stolen. These three combined mean you just have to look for enemies that have a chance of carrying the booster buns for speed, and steal from them until you’ve had your fill.

The enemies in question are the Brimstone Stallions – they’re the flaming skeleton horses you can find north from the starting city of Halcyonia. Look for them after you pass the bridge, but before reaching the forest. If you come there at night, they’ll show up in larger groups – up to six of them in a single encounter. If you have the appropriate skills, each one has a chance of dropping at least one speed bun – two if you have the Rob Blind skill.
