Fortnite Season 3 Has Been Delayed For June 17
Epic Games issued a statement announcing the company is postponing Season 3 of the popular game for June 17. This isn’t the first delay Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 3 experienced. The third season was set for June 6 but Epic Games moved the start date to June 11. This time, the reason for the delay is wellbeing of Epic Games employees in the wake of recent events in the US.

“Recent events are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color. We’re acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing,” reads the post.
“We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics. The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.”
In the latest event of police violence in the US George Floyd was killed by Derek Chauvin, a police officer from Minneapolis. Floyd’s death, the latest in the long record of police brutality towards minorities in the US , sparked nationwide protests in the US, as well as all around the world.
At the moment, the live event called “The Device,” will take place on June 15. After “The Device” we will have a day to rest before Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 3 starts on June 17. The latest delay happened mere hours after our latest Fortnite update. In it, we shared another leak suggesting the next season will take place in the sea. At the moment Epic Games didn’t confirm nor deny the potential aquatic theme for Season 3. All we can do is wait for June 15 to get answers.
