Final Fantasy VII remake Manuscripts are books that you can find around the game, and that you use to modify and level your weapons, as well as unlock new Limit Breaks. Since these items are incredibly valuable, of course people have been wondering how to get Manuscripts in the remake of Final Fantasy 7. The problem gets complicated even further, because there’s no way to get the majority of them in your first playthrough. What are Manuscripts in Final Fantasy VII Remake?

Manuscripts in the Final Fantasy VII remake are books that you can find around the game. What they usually do is grant you 10 SP each, which you then spend on leveling and modifying your weapons. A select few of them also unlock new Limit Break moves for your characters (you can read more about that in our Limit Breaks: How to Unlock, Use & Change Ultimate Moves guide).

Now, there’s a total of fifty-six Manuscripts in the FFVII remake. Unfortunately, if you comb everything in the difficulty levels that are initially available, you’re gonna end up with a total of about twelve of them. So, where are the remaining Manuscripts? Well, they are locked in Hard Mode. That segues us nicely into our next segment…

How to Get Manuscripts in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Hard Mode?

To get FFVII remake Manuscripts in Hard Mode, you have to defeat bosses and complete side quests that end with some kind of fight. So, yet again, you’ll have to go through basically the whole game with a relatively fine-tooth comb and complete as many side quests that end with a battle as you can. And, of course, make sure you defeat as many bosses as you can. That’s basically all there is to it.

Adding to the post-game grind are the leveling up of Materia. That’s another thing that you can do to make your characters as powerful as possible, until you eventually hit the level cap of 50. But, yeah; overall, the post-game is full of grinding, and you’re pretty much going to have to do it if you want to stand a chance against late-game enemies on Hard Mode.

How to Unlock Hard Mode in FFVII Remake?

To unlock Hard Mode in the FFVII remake, you have to complete the game on any of the previously available difficulties. By that we mean the main story, of course. Don’t forget to save the game when you wrap it up, because you’ll only be able to play Hard Mode on this save. The system is a bit weird, though, so here’s what you have to do in order to access Hard Mode.

In the System Settings in the menu of the game, you’ll have the option to switch to Hard Mode. Then, go into the Chapter Select menu and select which one you want to replay. Of course, you can start from the beginning and go through the whole thing, or just the sections you liked best. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my comprehension, you can;t just start a new save on Hard Mode; Chapter Select is the only way to do it.
