Food Shortage in Settlement in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord
Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord food shortage in settlements is one of the many problems you might encounter in the game, which is when people in your settlements start starving and your Food number is in the negative. This is a pretty bad situation, and one you should solve as soon as possible. There are several things that you can try, but they will take some time. With all that said, in our Food Shortage in Settlement in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord guide, we’re going to show you how to get more food to your castle, how to raise your Prosperity, etc.
How Do I Get More Food for my Castle in Bannerlord?
To get more food for your castle, and settlements in general, there are three steps that you should follow. First off, you want to put in some money into reserves; that’s just a good move overall. Second, you want your Granary to be at Level 3, or heading to Level 3 as soon as possible. Third, make sure to enable the Irrigation Daily Default to increase production. Also, selling food to the settlement can help, because they seem to get stuff from the vendor.
Now, there’s one very important point I have to bring up. The changes you introduce are going to take a couple of days to take hold. That means you also have to have a bit of patience to see those numbers turn around. This is especially true if you’ve just conquered a settlement. So, hang in there and wait for the measures to start working their magic. And good luck. That leaves us with the problem of Prosperity…
How to Increase Settlement Prosperity in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord?
To increase the prosperity of your settlement in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord, you have to increase your influence to be able to raise your taxes. The higher the taxes, the more daily gold you get for your settlement. Don’t overdo it, of course; you don’t want to provoke your people. Your other sources of denars are shops that you have, and, of course, picking of a caravan here and there, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Or, you know, you can simply abuse the infinite item / infinite money cheat to your hearts content, and keep pumping money into your settlements. You can read more about those in our Cheats in Bannerlord – Infinite Items, Denar, Combat Cheats guide. And speaking of, we’ve got a bunch of other Bannerlord guides for you to check out, in case you need them. Among them are the likes of How to Recruit & Gear Up Companions and How to Create Kingdom.
*Why* is it a bad situation though? You can’t starve out garrisons during sieges, even if the food sits at 0 forever. There don’t seem to be any consequences to not having food stored.

I’m actually having a food shortage because my prosperity is too high. I have level 3 granary and level 3 gardens, and everything with the food supply looks really good, except the prosperity is just too darn high and that eats it all up. When I hover over my food marker it lists: Prosperity -13.78, Garrison – 3, Gersegos (one of the associated villages) +4, Vathea (the other village) +4, Lands around settlement +5, Gardens +3, Expected Change -0.22. As time goes on my prosperity keeps getting higher and it keeps making the food problem worse. What should I do?
Hi there only way I’ve found possible is storing the town with grain and fish with ridiculous amounts talking tens of thousands but in end game of you doing that it makes it worse so best take it garrison out into another and let them starve out until balance again hope this helped
