Doom Eternal Delayed to Late March 2020 According to Official Twitter
Fellow demon slayers, I have some bad news. As you might have already heard, the launch date of Doom Eternal is now March 20th, 2020. That’s four extra months will have to wait before we can chainsaw demons into shreds again. There are several other changes to the game’s schedule. The Switch version will come after everyone else, and has no launch date yet. Plus, Invasion Mode will come out as a free update post-launch. But at least they’re adding Doom 64 as a pre-order bonus to all platforms.
Welp, this is what happens when you pull people from different studios to work on Fallout 76, Bethesda. Much to the chagrin of demon hunters everywhere, the launch date of Doom Eternal has been delayed by several months. According to the official Doom Eternal Twitter, we won’t see the game until March 20th, 2020. Of course, it’s always better to delay the game and deliver a good experience than rush something out the door and then try and repair it later, as Fallout 76 has proven.
That said, there are some other changes to Doom Eternal that you should be aware of. For one, the Invasion Mode, which will allow you to invade someone else’s game as a playable demon, will now be a free update that will come out shortly after launch. Second, the Nintendo Switch version of Doom Eternal will come out after the others. The launch date is still TBA. Hey, at the very least, they’re adding Doom 64 as a pre-order bonus for Eternal on all platforms – Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Switch. Hey, silver lining and all that.
Now, I’ve already stated that it’s better to delay a game if that means we’ll get a better product out of it, and I stand by that. However, I can’t escape the feeling that this wouldn’t have had to happen if Bethesda hadn’t pulled people from all studios to work on Fallout 76. That’s what upsets me about this specific situation. I might be wrong about that, it’s just conjecture on my part, I admit. But let’s be honest, it’s Bethesda we’re talking about.
