WoW How to Transfer Key Bindings & Macros from Retail to Classic
WoW key bindings and macros are an important part of the game. If you’ve been playing for a while, you’ve probably finely tuned them to fit your needs. You may have even developed different bindings for different characters. Now that WoW Classic is out, having to manually change all of those settings seems like a colossal waste of time. That’s why a lot of people are wondering how to transfer key bindings & macros from retail to classic, which is exactly what we’re going to show you in this guide.
How to copy bindings from retail to classic?
The process is extremely simple – all you have to do is find the files in which these settings are stored (one for key bindings, one for macros) and copy them over to the right place. To find the files, go to World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF\Account\YourUsername\RealmName\CharacterName. Once you’re there, you’ll need to copy bindings-cache.wtf for key bindings, and/or macros-cache.txt for macros. When you’ve got the files, place them in the same directory in the WoW Classic folder (“_classic_” instead of “_retail_” in the file path).
When you run the game next time, your new settings will be automatically applied. If you only have one character, or use the same key bindings for everyone, you don’t have to delve into the realm and character folders – simply taking the file from the YourUsername folder and copying it over will do the trick. We did the same with macros, so it’s possible that one will work as well.
