Warhammer Vermintide 2 Winds of Magic DLC Introduces Beastmen

Vermintide 2 is up there with Left 4 Dead 2 when it comes to four player co-op shooters – it’s pretty much the same formula, only with epic fantasy creatures and weapons, and quite a bit of persistence between matches (gear and other unlocks). According to the trailer, we’ll be getting a bunch of beast baddies to clobber, maim, incinerate and slice. This includes goatmen and bullmen, most of all. They were there all along, but they decided to stick to Reikwald forest and not bother honest folk with their beastly ways. Now, a meteor crashed in the Reikland, which they thought would make a great Herdstone. Hence the invasion.

The new map is called Dark Omens, and it’s made up of some pretty striking locales – misty marshes, burned forests, crystal caverns and more. The new game mode, called Winds of Magic, is going to take all the stuff that’s currently in the game (along with the upcoming DLC stuff) and mix it up. Each playthrough will mix different maps, modifiers, objectives, final bosses and difficulty levels. If you’ve grown tired of the same old challenges, this should spice things up a bit.

The new difficulty level is called Cataclysm – the name pretty much explains it all. It’s for all the people that have wrung the game dry and can’t find anything challenging in it anymore. Each class will be getting a new weapon type – a flaming flail for Sienna, a shield and spear for Kerillian, throwing axes for Bardin, a heavy spear for Markus and a billhook for Victor. The expansion is going to be released on August 13th
