Cyberpunk 2077 Lifepaths, Skills & Options Explained by Developer
As CDPR has been doing their best to make super clear, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to offer plenty of different approaches to the missions. Both the skills you focus on, and the Lifepath you choose, are going to influence this. And, in a video on Twitter, the game’s quest director gave a quick explanation on how this is gonna work. It’s nothing you couldn’t have predicted, but there it is.
In a recent Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter video, quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz quickly talked about how your choice of skills and Lifepath will affect your gameplay. As far as the skills and the options they give you go, there’s nothing new under the Sun. We’ve already seen this in the E3 2019 demo. Depending on which skills you focus on, it’ll open up “different paths through the levels, to discover different options in quests.” In other words, if you invest more in, say, strength and melee, just kick the door down and pound whatever stands in your way into dust. If you’re a hacker, use that to create as much chaos as you can.
Now, as for Lifepaths, the situation is pretty much like we assumed in our previous article on Origins and Starting Locations. Basically, which Lifepath you choose (Corporate, Street Kid, or Nomad) is also going to play a part in how you can approach certain problems. For example, a Street Kid will have an easier time establishing a rapport with gangs. On the other hand, a Corporate might be able to use his, well, corporate ties to solve issues. And the Nomads will probably be able to call in help from their tribe, like in the pen-and-paper game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out on April 16, 2020. You’ll be able to play it on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. And, I have a sneaking suspicion that it’ll also eventually launch on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Scarlett, whatever that thing ends up being called.
If you need help with anything else in the game, we have guides for you to check out. For example, if you don’t know how to remove the virus from the chip and find the Militech Datashard correct cack sequence we can help. Or, can you save Jackie in Cyberpunk 2077? We'll also help with your first Cyberpunk 2077 braindance during the Information quest.
