Assassin's Creed Odyssey Banning XP Farming in Creator Mode

Ubisoft is putting a pretty hard kibosh on custom quests, aka Stories, in AC Odyssey, used for farming XP. The reason they cite is that these levels affect the “quality, integrity, and purpose” of the creator mode. Which, you know, I’m not sure that’s what’s actually bothering them, but sure, whatever. Either way, they’re gonna be hiding all those levels, and also punnishing people that make or use them.

Now, if you haven’t been paying attention to what’s been going on with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, let’s get you up to speed. Basically, Ubisoft introduced a Story Creator Mode, which allowed players to create and share custom quests with others. So, naturally, people started creating quests that were basically XP farming tools. Which, really, Ubisoft should have seen coming. Anyway, bottom line, they don’t like players farming XP through custom quests, so they’re putting a stop to it.

Why? Well, according to the announcement “Story Creator Mode was designed to be a tool for players to let their creativity and imagination run free…” However, when it comes to XP farming quests, they believe: “These exploits risk jeopardizing the overall quality, integrity, and purpose of Story Creator Mode and results in less visibility for the creative, interesting and frankly fantastic community stories that have been published.” So, they’ll be removing such quests from the automatic recommendation system, Stories reported for “cheating” will be hidden, and even introducing sanctions for “offenders.”

Now, Imma put my cynic hat on, and say that the only reason that Ubisoft is doing this is because XP farming means less XP boosters sold. I honestly highly doubt that they of all corporations are all about protecting quality, integrity, and purpose. So, yeah; be careful when sharing and making these levels from now on. And don’t narc on people making these levels, eh?
