Battlefield 5 Mercury Free Map Revealed in Trailer
Battlefield 5 players are getting a new free map called Mercury. It’s part of Chapter 3: Trial By Fire. This months update is all about the new locale, which is set in Greece and based on the real life Operation Mercury from World War 2. The developers have released a trailer which shows off some of the map’s features, so you can check it out without having to run the game.
The story follows an aerial invasion on the Cretan coast, which means lots of white houses with blue windows and blinders. The British forces are trying to defend the island from the German invaders. According to the blurb, they’re successfully holding the navy back, but they’re having trouble with the air space. As for the ground itself, it’s a contested point. That’s where you come in – help your favorite side with this conflict by downloading the new map and giving it a go.
Judging by the brief and stylishly edited video, it seems like planes are going to be a big thing on Mercury. Lots of aerial combat, anti air guns, downed planes as part of the landscape. Tanks are going to be present as well, but they don’t seem to be the focus. Most of the planes will be on Germany’s said, while Britain will get most of the tanks. Of course, it’s the brave infantryfolk that are going to be the deciding factor.
There will be five capture points on the map, and the tempo should be moderate to fast. It’s supposed to be all about the verticality and the asymmetry of the vehicles across the two sides. The map is going to be released on May 30th, and it’s going to be freely available for all owners of the game, regardless of platform or version.
