How to Get Augments in Mortal Kombat 11?

To get Augments in MK11, there are several avenues you can go down, as is the case with pretty much every unlockable. For one, you can find them randomly in the chests strewn about in the Krypt. This is a crapshoot, since, like I’ve said, the rewards from chests are mostly random. But, odds are you’re gonna be spending a good chunk of time down there, anyway.

Other ways you can earn Augments is as rewards for completing Towers, or from the Shrine in the Krypt. Every Tower will tell you what kind of reward you’ll get for completing it, so go forth and rip out some spines or otherwise remove vital organs until you obtain what you need. Another great method to farm for augments are AI battles. Or, you know, you can buy them from the store using Time Krystals.

How to Apply Mortal Kombat 11 Augments?

To apply Augments in MK11, select the Gear piece that you want to augment. Then, select the augment that you want to slot in, and press X (on PS4, or whatever the equivalent on your platform is). Mind you, the augment has to be for that specific Gear; for example, with Sub Zero, you can’t slot in an augment meant for the ax into the mask slot. You can further mess with the augments by pressing R2.

Now, most of the Gear you eventually unlock isn’t going to have an Augment Socket available; maybe a maximum of one. As you play with that character, though, and complete certain tasks, more Slots are going to become available. The game will clearly tell you what you have to do in order to level up any given Gear piece in order to unlock further slots. In the example below, it’s earning XP by playing as the character that the Gear is for; for us, it’s Liu Kang.

How Do MK11 Augments Work?

Augments in Mortal Kombat 11 give you different little bonuses in Single Player and / or AI Battles. I say and / or, because some are only for AI battles, some are only for Single Player, and some can be used in both. None of them are available in online matches, keeping the playing field nice and even. It really would suck if it were otherwise; it’d be real hard to have a match against another person where only skill would be the deciding factor.

The bonuses you can get from the Augments vary wildly. It can be additional damage, poison resistance, mild XP boosts, fire resistance / damage; you get the idea.
