Red Dead Redemption 2 Stirrup Locations – How to increase horse speed

Where to find horse stirrups in RDR2?

The short version is this – you’ll find horse stirrups in any stable you go into. Literally every stable in the game sells them. However, sometimes it’s not that easy to get ahold of a pair. First of all, you need to enter the stables on the horse you want to get the gear for. Otherwise the tack and services option will be greyed out. Once you’re past that hurdle, you need to choose tack, then stirrups.

This will open up a list of all the available stirrups. The prices vary – from $10 to a little below $40. Obviously, the most expensive ones are the best – but they’ll also drain your mount’s stamina faster.

A lot of people have mentioned that they’ve had issues once they’re in the tack menu – stuff being greyed out, mostly. It turns out you can’t customize horse gear if you’re using the preorder bonus saddle. So if you’re using any of the deluxe, special or ultimate edition saddles that come with the fancy horses, you’ll first need to buy a new one. Afterwards, all the other horse accessories should be available for purchase.

You can transfer the equipment from one horse to another, so don’t worry about investing into low-tier mounts. Or you can just run to the mountains and get the best horse in the game by following our free arabian location guide.

I had the same problem with not being able to put new stirrups on a new horse after mine died. It was grayed out. I guess I was using a pre-order bonus saddle because after purchasing a new saddle and bag I was able to access stirrups. Thanks!!
