RDR2 Special Lure Locations - Legendary Fish
Special lures in RDR2 are a necessary tool / consumable in the game. It’s necessary to get special lures in Red Dead Redemption 2 in order to catch legendary fish. There are three types of special lures in Red Dead 2: swamp, river, and lake. You have to use them depending on where the legendary fish you’re fishing for lives. As it turns out, there seems to be only one location where you can get the special lures. So, here’s our RDR2 Special Lure Locations guide to show you exactly where to find special lake, river, and swamp lures.
How to Get Special RDR2 Legendary Fish River, Lake, Swamp Lures?
To get the special RDR 2 Legendary Fish lures, you’re going to have to buy them in a store. The only store that sells them, as far as we know, is Bait and Tackle, a shop near Lagras, Lemoyne. We’re going to get into the minutiae of where exactly to find the store below. Either way, the Bait and Tackle sells all three types of RDR2 special lures: Lake, River, and Swamp.
Now, there are two things to keep in mind here. One, every single special lure is going to cost you $20 a pop. At least they all cost the same. Two, you can apparently hold only one of each lure in your inventory at any given time. So, make every special lure in RDR2 count. Not only are they a bit on the expensive side, but, if you fail at catching a legendary fish, back you go to Lemoyne for another special lure.
Where to Find Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Fish Special Lake, River, Swamp Lures?
To find the special lake, river, and swamp lures in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’re going to have to visit a specific vendor. More precisely, you’re looking for the Bait and Tackle shop. This location is in Bayou Nwa, in Lemoyne. Go to the west shore of lake Lagras in the Bayou Nwa area. There’s a small settlement there, hiding in the misty marsh. The Bait and Tackle store is on the very edge of the lake; it even has a pier leading into the water that you can fish off of.

Hey guys. Been trying to catch the legendary sturgeon. I have all the lures bought from the bait shop up in lagras dont know if i spelt it right. Anyway, it says to use a special river lure to catch that sturgeon. Bit when i pull up for my lures it only says river lure instead of special river lure. Just wanted some info if there is 2 different lures or just the way its worded. Playing on an xbox one also if that helps. Any feedback would be great. Thanks guys.
You have to start a specific quest before the special version of lures will be available to buy from the bait shop. Read previous comments for more info or just google it..
Go to see Jeremy Gill at the house with the pier on the NE corner of Flat Iron lake. He will give you the Legendary Fsh Map. You will be able to send 24″, 10 lbs and over fish to him. When you look at the Legendary Fish Map, you will be able to buy the special lures from the bait shop. Happy fishing!
I can’t switch from crickets NO MATTER where I fish…please help?
When you follow the edge of Flat Iron lake, you’ll eventually come in proximity to a stranger mission. Find and talk to the stranger, then a message will pop up saying “You can now purchase special lures at the bait shop in Lagras”. Hope this helps everyone having trouble finding them.
I am in chapter 6 aaaand still cannot buy the special lures, but, I’ve found a Veteran during a Stranger Encounter out by O’Creagh’s Run Lake in the Grizzlies East region. Ruger stranger was nearby the south west area of that lake, leaning against a rock after his horse got spooked.
Help him, he will offer to take you fishing, and he will mention that he made a special lure, and that you can buy them in stores..
I still cannot buy them, lol.
Another instance is that I’ll see a popup say that there’s someone near flat Iron Lake that is interested in fishing. I am going to check that location out and try to find him next.
I have completed chapter 3, but i can not buy any of these special lures. Is there a specific quest that you need to complete?
Seems not to be true. Bought my lure in that Bait Shop in Lagras, definitely before the crew went to the 2nd location.
Hi Stefan.. I’ve been trying to buy the legendary swamp lure, but it does not appear on the list of items to buy in the Bait and Tackle shop in Lagras.. I’ve read multiple articles about it now and they all say the same as yours; to just buy the lures from the shopkeeper, but.. there aren’t any. Any ideas? Do they appear although you carry one already?
You have to complete a quest during chapter 3 before these become available.
You have to meet jeremy gill and start ” a fisher of fish” mission first to make the special lures available for buying at lures shop
You need to go to Gill Landing and speak with the famous fisherman who will give you a map. You’ll be able to purchase legendary lures after that!
