Spider-Man Keeps First Place in UK Chart, Tomb Raider Comes Second
Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PS4 continues to sell really, really well. It’s still in first place of the UK sales chart, and is also dominating many other charts across the globe. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is in second place of the UK sales chart, and NBA 2K19 is in third. The rest of the list is comprised of games that released earlier and are still doing great.
The new Spider-Man game seems to be yet another home-run for Sony and the PlayStation 4. The game is selling insanely well all across the globe, both in digital and physical format. Currently, the game is in its second week of ruling over the UK sales chart according to Chart-Track, and not only there. Spider-Man is moving copies like nobody’s business all across the globe, even causing physical copy shortages in Japan, according to PlayStation Lifestyle. Apparently, Japanese gamers bought 96% of the shipment, so some people bought the game digitally out of necessity.
This is great news for Sony, but not so good for the likes of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is currently under-performing compared to the 2013 Tomb Raider. Not only that, but according to Eurogamer, it is currently doing just slightly better than Rise of the Tomb Raider, and that was an Xbox exclusive. True, Chart-Track doesn’t include digital sales, and physical sales were enough to elevate Shadow of the Tomb Raider to second place on the UK charts, but still, this is slightly worrying for the franchise.
Another new entry on the UK charts is NBA 2K19, which is currently sitting in third place. The rest of the list are mostly the usual suspects. The remastered Crash trilogy is in fourth place, followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, GTA V, and F1 2018 in fifth, sixth, and seventh place, respectively. The last three places of the top 10 belong to Elder Scrolls Online, Lego Incredibles, and Super Mario Odyssey.
