How to Craft Fear & Poison Lure Arrows - Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Lure Arrows & Fear Arrows in Shadow of the Tomb Raider are special kinds of arrows. These arrows produce different effects, which you can use to your advantage. However, both Fear Arrows and Lure Arrows require the appropriate components and skills that you have to unlock. That said, they are both incredibly valuable, so you should always have them on hand. So, the question is, how to make Fear and Lure Arrows in the new Tomb Raider. Our guide on Shadow of the Tomb Raider Fear and Poison Lure Arrows will explain how to craft them and how to use them.
How to Craft Fear Arrows in Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
To craft Fear Arrows in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you first need to have the appropriate skill and components. The skill in question is Jaguar’s Fear, which you can get when you reach the Porvenir Oil Fields area in the story missions. The components you’ll need are a Silent Arrow, Cloth, and Dart Poison. When you have everything you need, hit Up on the D-pad to cycle between different arrows. Fear Arrows are the one with the spiral and stars. Once you have them selected, all you have to do is hold R1, and you’ll craft the Fear Arrows.
Fear Arrows are most useful when more than one enemy is attacking you, especially if one of them is stronger. You can then fire a Fear Arrow to lighten the load, because those affected will run away, leaving you with more of a window to get rid of the more pressing threat. Incidentally, unlocking the skill Jaguar’s Dread prolongs the effect of Fear Arrows.
Lure Arrows in Shadow of the Tomb Raider – How to Make Poison Arrows?
In order to make Poison Arrows, or, as they’re called in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lure Arrows, you need the required materials and unlock the necessary skill. The skill required to craft Lure Arrows is Viper’s Lure. It will cost you 2 Skill Points, and, to unlock it, you have to first purchase one of the skills adjacent to Viper’s Lure. The materials you need are Silent Arrows, Cloth and some type of Venom, which you can get off of spiders, mushrooms, frogs, or beetles (if you have the Owl’s Meal skill).
Now that you have all the necessary stuff to craft Lure / Poison Arrows in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it’s time to craft them. Press Up on the D-pad and keep pressing it to cycle to the Lure Arrows (the ones that look like they have a small explosion next to them). When you select them, press and hold R1 to craft the Lure / Poison Arrows.
How to Use Lure / Poison Arrows – Shadow of the Tomb Raider?
Using Lure Arrows, or Poison Arrows, in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, is a little different than how the usual arrows work. The thing is, you don’t hit enemies directly with it. Instead, you fire it off in the general vicinity of the enemies. The arrow will then lure the bad guys in (hence the name), and explode in a cloud of poison gas. Not only does that kill nearby enemies, but the cloud also blocks the line of sight of those unaffected. It’s an amazingly useful skill, especially if you’re playing stealthy.
For example, you can also shoot the Lure Arrow into a corpse, to guarantee a hit when the enemy discovers the dead body. Although, that said, the skill Viper’s Snare allows you to craft a poison trap on the corpse, so just get creative with the Lure Arrows.
Fear arrows won’t just scare away enemies. If you shoot an enemy with one of them he will start shooting at his comrades. With luck a single fear arrow will end up killing three enemies that way.
My experience is that poison lure arrows will also kill enemies they hit and then will lure other enemies and release a poison cloud when they investigate.
