AC Odyssey Map

The first thing you need to know is that the map doesn’t cover the entirety of Greece. Assassin’s Creed’s vision of ancient Greece is actually a condensed version of the original – many of the most crucial places are present, but they’ve been pushed closer together, so they can fit on a reasonably sized map. However, some fans are already complaining on social media, unhappy with the omissions. The entirety of the Thessaly region, including Mount Olympus and Larissa, for example.

There are theories about why the developers did this, and whether they’re planning on adding these missing regions in future expansions, but nothing is certain at this point. As for the size of the map itself, at first it seems a lot bigger than the one in Origins. We haven’t had the chance to measure it precisely, but it feels like the entire land mass is not considerably smaller than the one in Origins. It’s just that it’s divided into smaller parts, placed in the middle of a vast sea.

From what we’ve seen, there are approximately 2.5 kilometers between Lesbos and Chios, the two islands in the northeastern corner of the map. It took our ship a bit less than four minutes to get there. The map supposedly has a surface of around 130 square kilometers – it’s definitely not going to be cramped, and getting from end of the map to the other will take a fair while (at least until you’ve got all the fast travel points unlocked).
