Anthem is still a good few months away, but the developers are slowly beginning to drop-feed us little details. In a recent Twitch stream, Mark Darrah of Bioware answered one of the questions concerning how gear will work in the game. The question was whether weapons and armor in Anthem will have random stat rolls. The answer was as clear and concise as it possibly could be: Yes. Darrah didn’t really go into any further details in his answer, presumably because it’s too early for the general public to know more.

But, at least know we know a little bit more about how the weapons and armor in Anthem are going to work. Now, of course, we’ll have to wait for more information for any sort of correct conjecture. That being said, it seems to me that you might have to pray long and hard to the RNG gods while playing Anthem. It would definitely suck to complete some huge mission and then get a meh reward. Now, according to an article from GameRant, weapon progression is not really gonna work the same as in Destiny. You’ll have to option of switching to a new, more powerful weapon when you find one, or keeping the one you’ve already beefed up and come to love. With that said, the RNG factor might not be that big of a problem.

Anthem is coming out on February 22nd for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. It’s a collaboration between Bioware and Electronic Arts; an attempt to make a new kind of Destiny-like experience.
