Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the new game by From Software, which is coming out next year. Looking just at the E3 2018 reveal trailer, it’s going to contain many familiar elements from the Soulsborne games. One of the main differences is that Sekiro will take place in a medieval Japan environment. The second is that your character will have a prosthetic arm, which you can attach stuff to. This includes a grappling hook that allows you more vertical mobility, both in exploration and combat.

But what about the difficulty? After all, one of the defining characteristics of From Software games is the punishing, unforgiving difficulty. Will Sekiro follow suit? Well, according to director Hidetaka Miyazaki speaking to GameSpot, it very much will. Miyazaki was talking about the different approaches players will be able to take with Sekiro. Basically, you’ll be able to either explore a lot and use the different things you discover in battle, or charge head-on and mess enemies up with your katana. So, “everyone’s going to be able to have something to suit them.” He also said that player’s are “going to get that really high level challenge that’s probably even more challenging than previous From games.” That’s the part I know most of you care about.

So, there you have it. You can rest assured that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is going to be just as challenging as the previous From Software action RPGs, at least. We’ll have to wait for the game to come out to be sure, of course. But still, it’s nice to know that they still thirst for out blood, sweat, and tears.
