Paladins Arriving to Nintendo Switch, Early Access Starts June
Hi-Rez Studios has announced that they’re going to be bringing their hero-based multiplayer shooter, Paladins, to the Nintendo Switch. The port will run at 60 FPS, with a cross-play option with Xbox players. You can already pre-order the Founder Pack to earn a bunch of bonus items and start playing on June 12th, or wait a while and play for free.
You know what’s missing on the Nintendo Switch? That’s right, a hero-based online multiplayer first-person shooter! No, Overwatch is not coming to the Switch. However, it is the next-best thing. Or the even better thing, depending on who you ask. Yes, the other online multiplayer hero-based FPS, Paladins, is coming to Nintendo’s newest baby. Pre-orders for the Founder Pack are already up and running, if you want to start playing before everyone else and throw in a little money to support Paladins.
According to the announcement on the Paladins website, the game will run at a smooth 60 FPS on the Switch, “thanks to a custom in-house port of Unreal Engine 3, offering the full Paladins experience in both handheld and docked modes.” Also, you’ll have the option of cross-play with Xbox One users. The post reads:”Our community has asked for crossplay compatibility for a long time, so we’re thrilled to offer this brand-new feature that will enhance the Paladins experience for both players bases.”
Now, as we’ve mentioned, you can already pre-order the Paladins Founder Pack for $30. This will earn you early access starting June 12th, as well as “all 36 Champions currently in Paladins, all future Champions, and a number of Founder Exclusive cosmetic items.” Those of you that are familiar with Paladins might be confused here, because one of the game’s main draw is that it’s free-to-play. Don’t worry, the FTP version is still coming top the Switch. The post doesn’t exactly say when; the only designation we have is “later this summer.” So, either way you decide to play, you won’t have to wait too long.
