Bungie has announced the Dawning winter holiday event for Destiny 2. The event is going to last for a good, long while: From December 19th to January 9th. While the Dawning lasts, there are several activities you can participate in. This includes snowball fights, take part in Mayhem mode in the Crucible, earn Dawning engrams for event-specific items, craft gifts for vendors and agents to earn gifts for yourself, etc. Of course, you can also enjoy the festive decorations in the Tower and Farm social spaces.

Let’s get into the details. Like we said, Mayhem is coming back to the Crucible. Your abilities will recharge faster, and point values will be raised. If you take part in the PVP mode, and/or “become legend in Strikes”, you’ll get special Dawning engrams for every weekly milestone completed. Inside these engrams, you’ll apparently find new consumables that’ll give rewards to everyone you play with. If you’d prefer to simply purchase the items you want, Tess will have new inventory every week. Every Dawning-themed exotic or legendary armor piece will show up in Eververse at some point.

Meanwhile, in the Bazaar, you’ll be able to get the Dawning Gift Schematic. You can then craft a unique gift for the various vendors and agents strewn around the game. Give them the present, and receive a gift in return. You can do this every day while the event lasts. Last, but not least, the snowball fights. In the social spaces, you’ll be able to paste other Guardians for the giggles. In Strikes, though, hitting the enemies with snowballs will stun them, opening a window for some good damage.
