New Nintendo Switch Update Adds Video Capture Option
Nintendo has released a huge new system update for the Switch. It will update your console to version 4.0.0, and it brings a lot of new features to the table. The main two additions are video capture and the option to transfer data between Switch consoles.
The new system update for the Nintendo Switch is out, and there’s a lot to get excited about. Update 4.0.0 adds a whole bunch of stuff, but the two new major features are definitely the stars of the show. The two features I’m talking about are the video capture option, and the ability to transfer save files.
The video capture is currently pretty limited. The only games it works with currently are Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, and Arms. It should start working for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe some time soon. Supposedly, it requires the game to be version 1.3.0, but that version hasn’t come out yet. The video capture works like this, according to Gamespot: you hold the Capture button on your controller, and the system will record the previous 30 seconds of gameplay. After that, you’ll be able to edit the footage and share it on social media.
As for the data transfer, it allows you to transfer save files and other data from one Switch to another. It would appear that both consoles have to be updated to version 4.0.0 in order for this to work. And there’s a very important catch you need to keep in mind. According to Nintendo’s support site: “Once the process is complete, the user information, the associated save data, and the software purchased with the user account that is transferred will no longer be available on the source console.” So, when you opt to transfer data, don’t forget that the source Switch will lose all of the stuff you transfer.
