Darkest Dungeon Getting Nintendo Switch Version

Darkest Dungeon, the Lovecraftian turn-based strategy by Red Hook Studios, is getting a release on the Nintendo Switch. They posted a video of the game running on a Switch on the official Darkest Dungeon Twitter account. So far, the exact launch date remains unknown.

It seems that Nintendo Switch owners can look forward to playing Darkest Dungeon on their platform of choice. The developers have announced the port on the game’s official Twitter. They posted a video, showing the footage from Darkest Dungeon, already playing on the Switch (you can check out the video below). That being said, there’s no news of the exact release date yet. Seeing how the game is clearly already running on the Switch, the launch is probably pretty close already.

For those unfamiliar with Darkest Dungeon, let’s get you up to speed. The game launched back in January 2016 on PC and OS X, and has since been ported to the PlayStation 4, the Vita, Linux, and iOS. It’s a dungeon crawl, turn-based strategy game, with plenty RPG elements. What sets it apart is that the game are the heavy influences of Howard P. Lovecraft. As you explore the dark world of Darkest Dungeon, your party will meet all kinds of unearthly horrors. This affects their stress levels, which in turn results in all kinds of afflictions, both positive and negative. In other words, as you battle creatures that should not exist, your party members slowly go insane. That’s about as Lovecraftian as it gets.

Darkest Dungeon is both a critical darling and beloved by gamers. It got nominated for several awards on Independent Games Festival 2016. So Switch owners, if you love strategy games, and/or are a fan of Lovecraft, you should definitely check Darkest Dungeon out.
