Sylvio 2 PC Release Date Set for October 11th
Swedish indie studio Stroboskop has announced that Sylvio 2, the sequel to their 2015 horror game, is going to be released on PC on October 11th. It seems like it’ll only be available on Steam at the moment, but we’re hoping other platforms will follow. There’s now a launch trailer to help clue you in, in case this is the first time you’re hearing about the game.
So what’s Sylvio’s deal? The first game was about quiet tension, horor without jump scares or loud noises. It was definitely a breath of fresh air in a landscape filled with dozens of sequels to Five Nights at Freddie’s. The new Sylvio will once again focus on the adventures of Juliette Waters, a “ghost recorder”, who is played by Maia Hansson Bergqvist (you might know her from a role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo). This time around, she’s trapped in a city befallen by a natural disaster. She’s going to try to find her boyfriend with the help of Walter, a local boat owner. Her ghost-chasing equipment will help her make sense of the situation by allowing her to find hidden messages around the game’s world.
The developers say the game will take about six hours to finish, with nine levels and a flooded overworld with twenty islands to explore. Judging by how the first one was received, it’s not going to become a Youtubers’ darling, like so many of its genre-mates do, but it’s something horror fans will probably appreciate. Something different, quiet and tense. And apparently, it can run on a toaster, which is always a good thing.
We’ll find out soon enough – as we’ve mentioned, the Steam release is planned for October 11th. There’s no mention of the price on the store page, but we expect it’ll be around the $13 price point the previous one set.
